How to choose between sizes
- Size the rug to the furniture layout, not to the room alone.[1 · Oct 29, 2026]
- Leave about 18 in of bare floor around the edges in a standard room, or about 8 in in a small one.[3 · Oct 29, 2026] Safavieh also suggests about 18 in in an enclosed room.[6 · Oct 29, 2026]
- Give yourself about a 2 in margin of error when comparing a rug to your measurements.[3 · Oct 29, 2026]
- If you're between two sizes, Lowe's suggests sizing up outdoors, while Wayfair suggests the smaller size for hallway runners.[5 · Oct 29, 2026][11 · Oct 29, 2026]
